# Plugins and payment links

> Add Mintage Pay to WooCommerce and other store platforms, or to any website with a payment link or buy button.

You do not need to write any code. Add a plugin to your store, or put a payment link or buy button on any website.

## Store plugins

A plugin adds Mintage Pay to your store's checkout. When a customer pays, the plugin marks the order as paid for you.

What the status means:

- **Available:** ready to use, with one-click setup.
- **Tested:** we installed the plugin on a real store and placed a full test order with it. Each guide says which
  version we used.
- **Beta:** the plugin passes our automated tests, but we have not run it on a real store yet.
- **Connected by us:** Shopify and BigCommerce do not allow plugins to add a payment method, so we connect your store
  with you. Write to [hello@mintagepay.com](mailto:hello@mintagepay.com) to start.

Whichever plugin you use, place one test order in the [sandbox](https://mintagepay.com/docs/sandbox/) before you take real orders.

Most plugins are set up the same way: install it like any other add-on for your platform, paste your Mintage Pay API
key in its settings and save. A live key (starts with `mp_live_`) takes real payments. A test key (starts with
`mp_test_`) uses the [sandbox](https://mintagepay.com/docs/sandbox/). Medusa and Saleor are set up by a developer.

## WooCommerce

### What you need

- WordPress 6.4 or later, WooCommerce 8.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.
- Your store online at an **https** address. Mintage Pay contacts your store to tell it about each payment.
- A supported store currency: US dollars or one of 56 others ([full list](#supported-store-currencies)).
- A Mintage Pay account with at least one payout address.

### What your customers see

You can offer up to three ways to pay, and drag them into the order you want:

- **Pay with crypto:** USDC or USDT from any wallet or exchange.
- **Pay by card:** a debit or credit card, for stores where Mintage Pay offers card payments. You receive USDC.
- **Pay by app:** Cash App in one tap, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay where available.

Customers pay in a secure window that opens over your checkout, so they never leave your store.

### Install and connect

1. In WordPress, go to **Plugins > Add New Plugin**. Search for **Mintage Pay**, click **Install Now**, then
   **Activate**.
2. Go to **WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Mintage Pay** and click **Connect to Mintage Pay**.
3. Sign in to Mintage Pay. Check that the store address shown is yours, then click **Approve**.
4. You are taken back to WordPress. The page says **Connected to (your business name)**, and Mintage Pay is now on at
   your checkout.
5. Tick **Update Mintage Pay automatically** and click **Save changes**. Fixes and new payment options then install
   on their own.

To show card and crypto as separate options, switch on **Mintage Pay: Pay by card** and **Mintage Pay: Pay with
crypto** under **WooCommerce > Settings > Payments**.

Good to know:

- Only approve a connection you just started in your own WordPress.
- Connecting needs the Owner, Admin or Developer role on your Mintage Pay account. The account owner gets an email
  each time a store is connected.
- Prefer to paste a key? In the Mintage Pay dashboard, go to **Developers > API keys** and create one. It is shown
  only once. Paste it in the plugin settings, tick **Enable Mintage Pay** and click **Save changes**.
- Leave **API base URL** empty. The plugin works out where to connect from your key.
- You can also download [mintage-pay.zip](https://app.mintagepay.com/downloads/mintage-pay.zip) and upload it under
  **Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin**.

### Try it first with test money

1. Create a free account at [sandbox.mintagepay.com](https://sandbox.mintagepay.com) and add a payout address.
2. In the plugin settings, click **Connect a test (sandbox) account** and approve. The page shows **TEST MODE:
   sandbox, test money only**.
3. Open your store in a private browser window, place an order and pay it. The payment page has a button that gives
   you free test money.
4. When you are ready, click **Connect to Mintage Pay** to connect your live account. The plugin asks before it
   replaces the test connection. Click **Replace the key**.

### What happens to orders

| What happened | Order status |
|---|---|
| Customer started paying | Pending payment |
| Paid in full | Processing |
| Paid, but the amount does not match the order | On hold, with a note. Check before you ship |
| Paid only part | On hold, with a note saying how much is still owed |
| Not paid in time | Cancelled, and the stock goes back |
| Paid part, then the time ran out | On hold. Refund the customer or ask for the rest |
| Paid after the order was cancelled | On hold. Check before you ship |

Each order has a **Mintage Pay** box showing the payment status, the payments received and a **Refresh** link.

### Refunds

Your money is in your own wallet, so you send refunds from there. The plugin does the rest.

1. Open the order, click **Refund** and enter the amount. Then click the **Refund via** button for Mintage Pay. It
   shows the amount and your method's name, for example **Refund $50.00 via Mintage Pay**.
2. A **Send now** link appears in the order notes. Reload the page if you do not see it yet.
3. Click it, sign in to Mintage Pay and send the refund from your wallet.
4. Once the refund goes through, the plugin records it on the order, puts the items back in stock if you ticked
   **Restock**, and WooCommerce emails your customer.

If Mintage Pay needs the customer's refund address first, the order note says so and links to the payment, where you
can ask them for it.

### If something is not working

- **Mintage Pay does not show at checkout:** look for a notice at the top of your WordPress admin. It says what to
  fix, for example an unsupported store currency.
- **"Not connected" next to Webhook:** click **Reconnect webhook**. Do this too after moving your store to a new
  address. If it still fails, check that your site works over https and that no security plugin or firewall blocks
  `/?wc-api=mintage_pay`.
- **An order did not update:** open it and click **Refresh** in the Mintage Pay box.
- **You need more detail:** tick **Debug log** in the plugin settings, then look in **WooCommerce > Status > Logs**.
  Your key is never written to the log.
- **Still stuck?** Write to [hello@mintagepay.com](mailto:hello@mintagepay.com).

### Supported store currencies

USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, CHF, JPY, MXN, BRL, INR, SGD, AED, PLN, SEK, NOK, DKK, NZD, ZAR, TRY, KRW, HKD, NGN, ARS, PHP,
IDR, VND, PKR, EGP, BDT, KES, GHS, TZS, COP, CLP, PEN, UYU, PYG, BOB, DOP, GTQ, CRC, THB, MYR, TWD, LKR, NPR, KZT, UAH,
ILS, SAR, QAR, CZK, HUF, RON, ISK, XAF and XOF.

Customers always pay in US dollar stablecoins. If your prices are in another currency, they are converted at checkout,
and the payment page shows both amounts.

## Payment links and the buy button

Use these on any website, landing page, email or social post. They also work on platforms that do not allow an outside
checkout, such as Squarespace, Webflow, Square Online and GoDaddy.

1. In the dashboard, go to **Payment links > Products > New product**. Set a price, or let the customer choose the
   amount. Choose what to ask for: name, shipping address, phone, or a question of your own.
2. Click **Share**. You get a link, a QR code and the code for a buy button:

```html
<script src="https://pay.mintagepay.com/button.v2.js" async></script>
<mintagepay-button link="YOUR_LINK_ID">Buy now</mintagepay-button>
```

Options for the button:

- `target="new"` opens the payment in a new tab.
- The button is mint green by default. `theme="dark"`, `theme="light"` or `theme="outline"` changes the look.
- Already using `button.v1.js`? It keeps working. Change `v1` to `v2` to get the new look.

| Platform | Where to paste the button code |
|---|---|
| Squarespace | Edit page, Add block, Code |
| Webflow | Add an Embed element |
| Wix | Add, Embed Code, Embed HTML |
| GoDaddy Websites + Marketing | Add Section, HTML |
| Square Online | Add a Button that links to the product link. Not every plan allows custom code |
| WordPress without a shop | Custom HTML block |
| Any HTML page | Where you want the button |

If your site does not allow outside code, use a plain link instead:

```html
<a href="https://pay.mintagepay.com/l/YOUR_LINK_ID">Buy now</a>
```

Paid orders appear in the dashboard under **Orders**, with the customer's details. You can export them as a CSV file
and mark them fulfilled. You get an email for each paid order, and your customer gets a receipt.

### Donations

When you create a new product, choose the type **Donation**. Set up to 6 preset amounts, and let donors enter their own
if you like. The button code is the same, with `kind="donate"` added:

```html
<script src="https://pay.mintagepay.com/button.v2.js" async></script>
<mintagepay-button link="YOUR_LINK_ID" kind="donate">Donate</mintagepay-button>
```

### Your logo and colour

Under **Settings > Branding**, upload your logo (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 256 KB) and choose a button colour. They
appear on your payment, product and donation pages.
