Switching from Coinbase Commerce.

Coinbase Commerce has closed for most merchants. Mintage Pay takes USDC and USDT at checkout and pays your own wallet. Your WooCommerce store can switch in about 10 minutes once your account is approved.

What happened

Coinbase Commerce closed for merchants outside the United States and Singapore on 31 March 2026. The merchant portal closed and no extensions were given.

In the US and Singapore, accounts are moving to Coinbase Business.

What Mintage Pay is

  • USDC on Base, Polygon and Solana. USDT on Polygon, Solana and TRON.
  • 1% per completed payment. No setup fee and no monthly fee.
  • Every payment goes straight to your own wallet. Mintage Pay never holds your money.
  • On Base, Polygon and Solana the 1% is split off on chain in the same payment. On TRON the customer pays your wallet and the fee comes from prepaid credit.

Switch in about 10 minutes.

Once your account is approved, these six steps move your checkout. You need a WordPress administrator login.

  1. Apply

    Tell us about your store on the application form. We review every application by hand and reply within one business day with your login.

  2. Set payout addresses

    In the dashboard, add a wallet you control for each network you want to accept. An exchange deposit address works too. A network shows at checkout only once it has an address.

  3. Install the plugin

    In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for Mintage Pay, then install and activate it. It is Mintage Pay for WooCommerce on WordPress.org.

  4. Paste the API key

    Create a key under Developers → API keys. Paste it in WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Mintage Pay, tick Enable and save. The page then shows "API key verified" and "Webhook: Connected".

  5. Test in the sandbox

    Start with a test key (mp_test_) from your free sandbox account. Place an order, pay with test money, and check that the order moves to Processing by itself.

  6. Go live

    Replace the test key with your live key (mp_live_) and save. The webhook reconnects by itself. Then switch the Coinbase method off under WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.

Old Coinbase orders: export your Coinbase history while you can, and move any funds left in Coinbase Commerce with Coinbase's own tools, since Mintage Pay cannot see or move them. Our free Coinbase Commerce order history plugin, also under Developers, keeps the Coinbase reference readable on each old order after you remove the Coinbase plugin.

Payment links

No store plugin needed. Create a product in the dashboard under Payment links and share its link, its QR code, or a buy button you paste into any website. It works for social posts, emails, Squarespace, Webflow, Wix and plain HTML pages.

Questions from Coinbase Commerce merchants.

Do my customers need an account?

No. They pay from any wallet that holds USDC or USDT on a supported network. On Base and Polygon they can also send straight from an exchange such as Coinbase, Kraken or Binance. They never sign up for anything.

How do refunds work?

From the dashboard. You send the refund from your own wallet, then record it in your Mintage Pay dashboard. Mintage Pay checks the transaction on the blockchain and the WooCommerce plugin adds the refund to the order. The 1% on a completed payment is not returned.

Which wallets work?

On Base and Polygon, most wallets, or an exchange such as Coinbase, Kraken or Binance. On Solana, any wallet that supports Solana Pay, such as Phantom, Solflare or Backpack, with no SOL needed for fees. On TRON, a wallet app such as TronLink with a little TRX for the network fee. Customers with no crypto can pay from Cash App or a Coinbase account, or buy USDC with a card inside the checkout (US and EU; for stores approved for card payments).

What if a customer pays the wrong amount?

Too little: you can set an underpayment tolerance from 0% to 5% in the dashboard. It is off until you turn it on. A payment short by no more than that counts as paid, and the order completes with a note showing the shortfall. A bigger shortfall puts the order on hold with a note of what is still owed. Too much: you get an overpayment notice in the dashboard and by email, with the paying address, so you can send back the extra. Differences under one cent are ignored.

Is there a sandbox?

Yes. sandbox.mintagepay.com is a full copy of Mintage Pay that runs on test networks with test money. Create a free test account there and it is ready at once. It has test USDC on Base Sepolia and Solana devnet, and test USDT on TRON Nile, with a faucet that hands out test USDC. Polygon is not in the sandbox yet.

What happens to my old Coinbase orders?

They keep their Coinbase data. Old orders were paid to Coinbase, so refund them from wherever those funds are now. The free order history plugin keeps each Coinbase reference visible to your staff after the Coinbase plugin is gone.
