Plugins and payment links

You do not need to write any code. Add a plugin to your store, or put a payment link or buy button on any website.

Store plugins

A plugin adds Mintage Pay to your store's checkout. When a customer pays, the plugin marks the order as paid for you.

What the status means:

Whichever plugin you use, place one test order in the sandbox before you take real orders.

Most plugins are set up the same way: install it like any other add-on for your platform, paste your Mintage Pay API key in its settings and save. A live key (starts with mp_live_) takes real payments. A test key (starts with mp_test_) uses the sandbox. Medusa and Saleor are set up by a developer.

WooCommerce

What you need

What your customers see

You can offer up to three ways to pay, and drag them into the order you want:

Customers pay in a secure window that opens over your checkout, so they never leave your store.

Install and connect

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin. Search for Mintage Pay, click Install Now, then Activate.
  2. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Mintage Pay and click Connect to Mintage Pay.
  3. Sign in to Mintage Pay. Check that the store address shown is yours, then click Approve.
  4. You are taken back to WordPress. The page says Connected to (your business name), and Mintage Pay is now on at your checkout.
  5. Tick Update Mintage Pay automatically and click Save changes. Fixes and new payment options then install on their own.

To show card and crypto as separate options, switch on Mintage Pay: Pay by card and Mintage Pay: Pay with crypto under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments.

Good to know:

Try it first with test money

  1. Create a free account at sandbox.mintagepay.com and add a payout address.
  2. In the plugin settings, click Connect a test (sandbox) account and approve. The page shows TEST MODE: sandbox, test money only.
  3. Open your store in a private browser window, place an order and pay it. The payment page has a button that gives you free test money.
  4. When you are ready, click Connect to Mintage Pay to connect your live account. The plugin asks before it replaces the test connection. Click Replace the key.

What happens to orders

What happened Order status
Customer started paying Pending payment
Paid in full Processing
Paid, but the amount does not match the order On hold, with a note. Check before you ship
Paid only part On hold, with a note saying how much is still owed
Not paid in time Cancelled, and the stock goes back
Paid part, then the time ran out On hold. Refund the customer or ask for the rest
Paid after the order was cancelled On hold. Check before you ship

Each order has a Mintage Pay box showing the payment status, the payments received and a Refresh link.

Refunds

Your money is in your own wallet, so you send refunds from there. The plugin does the rest.

  1. Open the order, click Refund and enter the amount. Then click the Refund via button for Mintage Pay. It shows the amount and your method's name, for example Refund $50.00 via Mintage Pay.
  2. A Send now link appears in the order notes. Reload the page if you do not see it yet.
  3. Click it, sign in to Mintage Pay and send the refund from your wallet.
  4. Once the refund goes through, the plugin records it on the order, puts the items back in stock if you ticked Restock, and WooCommerce emails your customer.

If Mintage Pay needs the customer's refund address first, the order note says so and links to the payment, where you can ask them for it.

If something is not working

Supported store currencies

USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, CHF, JPY, MXN, BRL, INR, SGD, AED, PLN, SEK, NOK, DKK, NZD, ZAR, TRY, KRW, HKD, NGN, ARS, PHP, IDR, VND, PKR, EGP, BDT, KES, GHS, TZS, COP, CLP, PEN, UYU, PYG, BOB, DOP, GTQ, CRC, THB, MYR, TWD, LKR, NPR, KZT, UAH, ILS, SAR, QAR, CZK, HUF, RON, ISK, XAF and XOF.

Customers always pay in US dollar stablecoins. If your prices are in another currency, they are converted at checkout, and the payment page shows both amounts.

Use these on any website, landing page, email or social post. They also work on platforms that do not allow an outside checkout, such as Squarespace, Webflow, Square Online and GoDaddy.

  1. In the dashboard, go to Payment links > Products > New product. Set a price, or let the customer choose the amount. Choose what to ask for: name, shipping address, phone, or a question of your own.
  2. Click Share. You get a link, a QR code and the code for a buy button:
<script src="https://pay.mintagepay.com/button.v2.js" async></script>
<mintagepay-button link="YOUR_LINK_ID">Buy now</mintagepay-button>

Options for the button:

Platform Where to paste the button code
Squarespace Edit page, Add block, Code
Webflow Add an Embed element
Wix Add, Embed Code, Embed HTML
GoDaddy Websites + Marketing Add Section, HTML
Square Online Add a Button that links to the product link. Not every plan allows custom code
WordPress without a shop Custom HTML block
Any HTML page Where you want the button

If your site does not allow outside code, use a plain link instead:

<a href="https://pay.mintagepay.com/l/YOUR_LINK_ID">Buy now</a>

Paid orders appear in the dashboard under Orders, with the customer's details. You can export them as a CSV file and mark them fulfilled. You get an email for each paid order, and your customer gets a receipt.

Donations

When you create a new product, choose the type Donation. Set up to 6 preset amounts, and let donors enter their own if you like. The button code is the same, with kind="donate" added:

<script src="https://pay.mintagepay.com/button.v2.js" async></script>
<mintagepay-button link="YOUR_LINK_ID" kind="donate">Donate</mintagepay-button>

Your logo and colour

Under Settings > Branding, upload your logo (PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 256 KB) and choose a button colour. They appear on your payment, product and donation pages.
